Home sweet home!!

Maria and i made it back to Philadelphia safely! What a great trip! Without going into too much detail, here’s a quick summary of our euro-conquest:

We landed in Frankfurt, Germany after a short layover in Brussels, Belgium. We paid for the cheapest rental we could get, reserving a VW Golf. We instead got a Mercedes Benz A180CDI (diesel) with only 4,408km on it for the same price!! How kickass?! Nothing like traveling in style!

The next day we drove to Munster, Germany; where Proof&Proving was a surprise housewarming gift to a new resident at a house party. The good: We got to hang with some amazing friends we met a la Giving Chase tour with A New Day: Nico, Josua, and Jenny. The bad: a friend of our host pulled a hit-and-run on our rental, denting the driver’s side door and breaking off the mirror (though they tried to place it back on. We didn’t notice it was broken until it was dangling in the wind as we drove out of Munster). This is when it’s NOT kickass to have a Benz.

Leaving Munster was a ten hour drive to Davos, Switzerland. GPS didn’t work, road construction en route, sharp turns thru the Swiss Alps, and it started snowing! The drive took us thru Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. We managed to make it there in one piece, and had a hell of a good time! A special thanks to the promoter J├╝rgli for being such an awesome dude and being okay with us being hours late! Some people walked 2 hrs to that show, while others drove from Zurich (4hrs!!). I can say that for us: after 10+ hrs, construction, snow, failed technology: it was all worth it!

After Davos we went to Milan, Monza, and Venice, Italy. Maria got to catch up with a college friend, Justine. We got to see some amazing Italian cities first hand. Beautiful. We eventually found ourselves bouncing between Vienna and Wiener Neustadt, Austria. We had a great time running around like tourists in our spare time, grabbing some cool pictures (well, Maria did at least). We even had a chance to see Vienna’s Museum of Modern Art. The two shows in Wr. Neustadt were VERY fun, at an amazing venue called Entro P Extended. I had my own “drinking army” who drank whenever i called for it. Now that’s the power of music.

Or something like that.

Sleeping in a bar has it’s downsides, so leaving Austria for me involved a killer hangover. Before leaving Austria for good we had a brief stopover in the beautiful city of Linz; which may mainly be known to have produced one of history’s most influential people of the last century (look it up).

After driving through the beautiful Austrian and German countryside (which looks shockingly similar to good ole PA) we eventually found ourselves back in Frankfurt to drop off the rental and fly home (with another brief layover in Brussels, Belgium). In total i logged 2,166 miles in driving onto the luxurious Benz. Not too bad for someone who can’t read anything but English (go American education! Thanks Mr. Elza!).

The rental company would not let me pay for the rental because they have to assess the damage. My bank card is going to love the bill when it comes in. I really wish the guy who did it would just man-up and help us with the bill, instead of just pretending he didn’t do it and let us pay for his mistake.

All and all it was a great time! Maria and i want to give a heartfelt “Thanks!!” to all the people who came out to see Proof&Proving, bought a cd or one of Maria’s photos, put us up for a night, or just genuinely gave a fuck about what we’re doing. It’s things like that that make two artists fly halfway around the world to try and do what they love; and feel it to be worth every bit of the effort – and feel that it’s so much worth the enough that they try to write about it in the third person.

Or something like that.
